Web Development Quote

If you have not already planned your site, you will want to take some time to think about what you want to accomplish with your new website. Determine if you will need any special function or interactivity with your visitors; consider the type of design style which appeals to you and then write it down. Look for sites that have features you like so that you can share these with your web developer. Having examples of what you like really helps when designing your new website.

Needs Analysis

Based on the information you provided when requesting your web design quote, your web developer and programmers will attempt to determine your needs, what you are expecting from the web site development and we try to get a feel for your markets and industry to help build a better web site for you.

Your web developer or programmer may have questions to help you clarify any issues and we will express those if possible before quoting your project.

If your web developer believes that your web development / new website project could benefit from additional features or services the web developer will add those options to your web project quote.

Website Development Contract

Once you and your web site developer / programmer have come to an agreement on the project details, time line and price, we will prepare a website development contract for you to review, sign and send back with your deposit. (Contracts are not needed on projects under $1,000).

Initial Deposit

The signed contract and a deposit of 50% of the project total are required before your web development project can begin. A time slot for your project will not even be scheduled until these protocol are met. Once Ginkga receives your 50% deposit and signed contract, we will provide you with a copy of the fully executed agreement (contract), a receipt for your deposit and your project start date. All projects are scheduled on a "First Come, First Serve" basis. Emergency projects can be taken on but there is a large additional fee for such exceptional demanding projects and few are accepted.

Domain Name Registration / Website Hosting

If needed, we will immediately secure your desired domain name (provided the domain is available) and the domain registration will be for two (2) years with one (1) year of small business web hosting (video-based site hosting is priced accordingly and additionally).

Your web developer will register your domain in your name, so please be sure and supply your full name, address and phone number during your initial communication with your web developer. You will be the only registrant contact on file and it is important for you to know that whoever registers your domain name, you should be sure to get all relevant information for logging into the control panel for administration and maintenance.

If you require hosting services, your web develop may recommend a trusted affiliate based on your particular needs, however in most cases Ginkga provides hosting.

Graphic Design Phase

Web Development Project Begins

After initial details of your project have been discussed between you and your graphic designer, upon receipt of the required 50% deposit and contractual agreement (if applicable), the designer in charge of your project will email you to confirm receipt of your deposit/contract and give you his/her direct contact information and possibly provide a list of items which might be needed from you over the course of the web development project or graphic design project.

You will need to make a list of the navigation links that you want on your new web site (such as Home, About, Services, Products, etc.). Also, supply all text and/or product information to be included on your site. In addition, you may also need to supply materials such as company logos, association logos/details, images and whatever other materials you would like to be added. Please note that most of these materials can be created or modified by your designer for an additional fee.

Images (photos MUST be named in correspondence with the product ID Number/Price/Size, etc)
Color Preferences / Styles (if any)
Example Reference Sites (if any, for Web Developer to view)

If you have collected any example sites that you would like your web developer to refer to when designing your site or if you have any preferences as to colors, styles and such, please offer that information as well.

E-Commerce Sites

For E-Commerce sites that require us to enter products for you, your web developer will need you to supply an Excel spread sheet listing the following:

Product Name
Unique Product ID Number (if any)
Product Description
Options (sizes, colors, etc., if any)
Price
Approximate Weight
Number of Products in Stock
Photos (photos MUST be named in correspondence with the product ID Number)

Ideally, all of the above information should be supplied prior to us getting started. Work on your web development project begins on your scheduled start date. The developer in charge of your project will contact you on the project begin day to confirm that we are getting started.

Custom Designed Website Layouts

Depending on your contract agreement, your web developer may provide up to three custom layouts for you to choose from. In most cases your web developer will already have an efficient layout for your website based on what you have planned out in your Decision/Planning Phase.

After you have reviewed the initial web design layout(s) and have decided what you like and don't like – the web developers and web programmers will continue to make modifications until the final desired look is achieved. It's important to note here that up to two (2) modification sessions are included in Ginkga contractual agreements, any additional modification sessions are offered at an additional charge. PLEASE – take the time to really look at your website and make note of ALL modifications that you desire after first viewing your new website so that your web developer will have all desired changes. For efficiency reasons we cannot offer more than two revisions at no additional charge per contracted web site project (more than two modification sessions can be available for an additional fee).

Once the final desired look is achieved, we will create the interior page layout, convert the design to HTML (if needed) add programming and all functionality, features, etc.

Web Development In-Progress Viewing

Your new website will either be placed in a temporary directory on the Ginkga testing server or on your domain during its web development process so that you may review the site at any time. In addition, your web developer will inform you via email or phone when extensive updates to the site have been made so you can review the most recent changes. Remember – it's important that you make note of anything you have on your mind for the modifications sessions of your project.

Professional Stock Photography

All projects include use of professional stock photography images from our current library. If your project requires stock photography which we do not currently posses, an additional fee will be applied (with your approval, of course).

Web Site Development / Coding Phase

Programming / Coding

All website development programming and coding to run any special features or visitor interactivity on your web site is completed and tested.

Web Site Pages

Based upon your contract and final design selections, your web developer creates as many web pages as needed to complete your site.

Web Site Navigation

Navigation links or drop down menus and such are configured for ease of visitor use and to build a consistent experience for your web site visitors.

Site Map

Creation of a site map is done which includes easy one-click access to all major pages of your website. A site map is something of a primitive navigation system and helps in search engine ranking and search.

Site Content

Incorporation of your logo, photos and text content is included in all projects. Custom logo design is available for an additional fee, please inquire if interested.

CSS Stylesheet

CSS Stylesheets are used to define features of your web site, such as font faces, styles, sizes and colors so that your website is consistent throughout.

Web Site Favicon

A favicon is a small image that displays in the address bar and on the favorites menu when someone bookmarks your site or adds your site to their favorites list. It's a fun and easy way for your visitors to save and find your website again in their lists of favorites lists.

Creation of the favicon is included in all of the web sites built by Ginkga Studio Web Design.

Response Forms / Email Contact Forms

When we build your website you will have the choice to have at least one contact form for information collection, subscriptions and for your customers convenience. A contact form allows web visitors to submit their inquiry directly to your email box without opening their own email program, saving them time and hassle. This is especially convenient for your visitors if he or she is not using their own computer or unable to use their own email program.

Revisions

Each project has a limit of two FREE revisions during the development of the site. This is why it's important that you know precisely what you want from your website. You can use your two free revisions at any point during the development and programming phase – please use them wisely. Revisions after the two initial free revisions will be charged $30.00 each time we have to make major changes. No exceptions.

Testing Phase

Search Engine Readiness Checklist

Meta tags, page titles, page heading, alt image tags, links, link text, and page text are all important to being found by search engines for an organic index ranking. The ways in which a website is designed has great influence on the indexing and availability of that site and we make every attempt to ensure your site has all that's needed to gain a healthy ranking and relevance to your target buyer base.

*Please note that in the competitive environment of search engine optimization, search engine ranking, accurate indexing and sales conversions we cannot guarantee the placement of your site since this requires on-going effort and research. Professional search engine optimization through SEO Diablo is recommended for clients who are serious about their ranking.

Browser Compatibility Testing

Your website is tested on a variety of browsers and operating systems to ensure proper display and functionality.

Grammar and Spell Check

Before the website is launched, a grammar and spell check is performed to ensure there are no mistakes.

Dead Link Check

A thorough check for misdirected links and missing files is performed just prior to, as well as after the launch of your website.

Forms / Programming

Any email contact forms and/or programming features included in your project are tested to confirm they are functioning as required.

Launch Phase

Final Payment

Final Payment is always due before we take the website live on your domain. Upon receipt of final payment, you will be emailed a final payment-in-full receipt.

Error Testing

After the website is live, any interactive programming and scripts are tested to verify function. Since the design and testing phase often occurs on a different server, it is very important to once again verify that everything is working correctly after taking the website live where the site is actually hosted after taking the site live.

Website Files

After launch and testing of the website, you are provided with a zipped archive of all website files.

Instructions and Documentation

When necessary, any documentation needed to use the administration functions of your website is included in PDF format.

Search Engine Submission

Every effort is made to ensure your web site is accepted and organically indexed with the search engines through valuable content and proper design. We do not automatically submit websites as this is sometimes not proper for the web site indexing. Ginkga Studios provides only submissions by hand which require an additional investment from the client. We do ensure however that your site is tested and working according to the best search engine requirements of the day.

Completion Phase

Minor Changes & Adjustments

In addition to the two initial free revisions during the development phase, we also provide two weeks grace for minor changes and adjustments to your web site after it is launched to its home domain. A maximum of up to 3 hours labor will be applied to the final minor changes and adjustments. Minor changes include changing text, adding or changing photos, changing links, etc. Any major revision requests will require additional discussion and may require a fee to complete. Please ensure that you do some homework prior to having your site developed so you do not have major problems after the site has been completed.

Hosting

Nearly all websites built by Ginkga Studio have basic hosting for 1 year at the cost of $10.00 per month, $120.00 per year. After the first year the fee remains at $10.00 per month.
